Blog, Blog post

Today I am writing to inform all my wonderful followers of an opportunity that I recently came across. The ability to compete for the Root Pretty spokesmodel 2017. I personally love this company and every product I have used of theirs! So, what would be better than representing this amazing company and all their awesome products!

What does that exactly mean? Root pretty has asked for contestants to enter their model search in order to find their 2017 spokesmodel, a woman who they feel embodies the Root brand and green beauty. The search lasts for 5 rounds. So, that’s pretty much the search in a nutshell.

What does that mean for you? I will be posting more pictures regarding Root pretty products and the model search. If you see a picture on Instagram or Facebook, I’d love to hear from you! Let me know that you are cheering me on…I appreciate every like and comment y’all leave me! Plus at certain points, your involvement (i.e – Likes) will help me progress to the next round.

As the contest progresses I will be posting more pictures and tweets regarding the contest. At this point, I am in Round 2 and will be posting my entry for that soon! I am excited to have moved onto round 2 and am hoping to continue on…

That is all for now….please feel free to ask any questions and leave me comments here or on my Instagram.

Thanks y’all!

I hope that all you Fathers out there had a great weekend! Today I wanted to write a little bit of a different post, instead of writing a lot of words, I am going to post mostly pictures and let them do the talking.

We celebrated Father’s Day at Messina Hof  Grapevine Winery and enjoyed some tasty BBQ, sangrias, and of course, wine slushies. Thank you to everyone that worked the event yesterday, everyone was so friendly and we appreciated all of your hard work! I want to give a special shout out to Amanda, Garrett, and Juan, y’all are always so friendly and make sure that we enjoy our time at the winery!

We had a great time Celebrating Father’s Day! What did y’all do….I’d love to hear about you celebrations!

Blog post

Where to start?

I have been trying to write this post for the past 2 weeks, but just didn’t know where to start. There is just so much information!!! I have been researching Messina Hof and learning so much about the wine, the family, and the company. I have been thinking, “how can I fit all this information into 1 post….there are so many things I would like to share in this post..what do I say and what do I leave out???”.

It’s all about the wine…do y’all see all of my research material spread across the coffee table??? So much to narrow down!

Then I decided, focus on the wine and the rest will follow suite. So, here I am with my most favorite glass of Port sitting on my couch writing this post. Just to be totally up front with y’all, I am not a wine critic nor will I claim to know everything about wine, but this I do know, I love Messina Hof wine. With that statement said, let’s get into this review!

The Wine

Here are a few statistics for y’all:

  • Messina Hof (MH) is the largest producer of Texas wines
  • Family owned winery with 7 generations of winemaking experience
  • Most awarded winery in Texas (earning 1000+ awards)
  • 30+ varieties of grapes with 90+ wine labels
  • 4 series: Messina Hof Tribute Series®, Messina Hof Private Reserve® Series, Messina Hof Port Series, Messina Hof Paulo Series®

I was pretty impressed after learning all about Messina Hof’s accomplishments, because I like facts and concrete evidence. Before I started researching and learning more about MH, all I knew was that I loved their wine. I first really learned of MH about 6 years ago, when we visited for my besties’ birthday. Since then my love of wine has grown, with MH wine always being my favorite. If you would like to know a little more about my wine story then check out my previous post, Messina Hof Grapevine Winery.

The Family

Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo founded Messina Hof Winery & Resort in 1977 and planted their first vineyard in Bryan, Texas. The name Messina Hof came from both Paul and Merill’s heritage, with Paul’s family origin of Messina, Sicily, and Merill’s from Hof, Germany. This power couple helped blazed the Texas wine industries trails and are now joined by the next generation of winemakers, their son, Paul Mitchell, and daughter-in-law, Karen.

Meeting this amazing family in person was a little intimidating at first, just to be blatantly honest, but they are truly the sweetest most down-to-earth people, and you can tell they love what they do and are passionate about it. I just loved talking to Paul senior, he is one of those people who is so easy to talk with and whom one can see the passion in his eyes. He just came up to us at the last event we attended and started talking as if we were all in the middle of a conversation and had been talking for awhile and then like that, he goes off to talk with the next group of people. He is such a fun person to talk to! I know I have used the word passion multiple times, but that is the word that comes to mind when I think of this wonderful family. I think many of us want to know that we are doing something to make a difference or that our life has a purpose, well this family has definitely found their purpose! I am not trying to sound shallow, saying their purpose is to make wine…maybe you are thinking, what kind of true fulfilling purpose is that? Well, to me they have started a business and made it successful, they are impacting the community around them, they have worked hard and done something in this life, and I applaud them.

The Winery

Ok, back to some more technical details. I want to share a little bit about each of MH’s locations with y’all.

Bryan, Texas

The original winery is Messina Hof Winery & Resort in Bryan, Texas. This is what I dub “the center of operations”, and boasts 30 acres of vineyard, a wine bar, event venue, restaurant, and bed & breakfast. We always enjoy visiting MH Bryan, the property is beautiful and the food is quite tasty too! If you are in the Bryan-College Station area, make a plan to drive out to MH winery & resort, I do not think you will be disappointed.

Main entrance for Messina Hof Winery & Resort

Fredericksburg, Texas

Messina Hof Hill Country Winery is located in beautiful Fredericksburg, Texas, which is the second largest wine tourism destination in the country. We love to visit the Texas Hill Country, it is one of the most beautiful parts of Texas and the wine is nice too (*wink*). This winery features a tasting room, event spaces, tasty treats, and a bed & breakfast. With all the wineries to visit in Fredericksburg, MH is a must stop for those of you who are serious about wine!

Grapevine, Texas

This winery is MH newest location, which opened in late 2014, and is located on historic Main Street in the Wallis Hotel. This location is the smallest but it is the first urban MH winery, and it packs a great time. Come on by for a tasting, they offer 40 different wines with a few options on tap. I always enjoy the view from the second story balcony – so grab a glass of wine and make your way out to the patio or up to the balcony to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Check out my full review of Messina Hof Grapevine Winery if you want to hear a little more about this gem located in Grapevine, Texas.

The more I learn about MH, that is the company and the people behind the label, the more I love it. We have had the privilege to meet the Bonarrigo family and talk with them on a few occasions. They are such a pleasure to talk to and within a few minutes of talking with them, you will see the passion they have for this business. What is better than supporting a Texas-based company that is a family owned and produces such amazing wine? I personally love supporting local businesses, especial those with integrity.

One more tidbit that I wanted to fit into this post but wasn’t sure where to put it, so it is going here. MH just rolled out new packaging of their bottles which also includes new environmentally-friendly corks! Love it – a great company that is also working to be as environmentally-friendly as possible.

There is so much more I could say, but it would take like 10 posts to get it all in and I’m not sure if y’all would want to read all of that! I hope you have enjoyed this post…if you love wine, then I hope you go out and try a bottle of Messina Hof wine and/or visit one of the locations!

*Disclaimer – I was not paid to write this post or even asked to write it. I am just sharing something I love with all of y’all in Cyber space*
